White Water Rafting

I have only tried it a twice. Once on the Kicking Horse River in Alberta and the second time was on on the Ottawa River, July long weekend 2003. The Ottawa River has much to offer paddlers of all experiences. An experience for me that included a big dunk at the Butcher’s Knife. Named for all the rocks and the victims that emerge looking as though they met with the Buther’s Knife….

Two full days of rafting. It was great fun. The first day was a 12 man guided raft and the second day was a 6 man guide your own.

My huband was our guide. Of course each person in our boat (except my husband, our guide) went for a swim. My sister ended up halfway down the river and the kayaking team had to go “rescue” her. Again it was great fun.

In 2005 our long weekend was tame. It did not include LIVE 8. And, I am sure if we still lived in Waterloo, we would not have made the trip. It was highlighted by sharing a BBQ meal with friends, relaxing in the hot tub and watching a movie with them. It has also included far more work then I was prepared for. Craig is determined to finish the wall and the door in the basement today. He is off to a great start.

Marvellous blog, dear. I admit I was there when you fell into the drink, but all’s well that end’s well! Not that I want to take credit for everything fortunate, you understand.

Your hubby is a love and I approve of him. Not every man has the will to do anything close to what he is doing. Snow White’s Prince Charming (who later became King Charming the Third) was really atrociously lazy in his later years. It was a good thing he inherited his wealth; he surely never would have earned it.

Thank you Fairy Godmother. I just knew you would like Craig. He is a good man, a good friend, a good husband, and he will be a good dad.
