I have been away at my parents for almost two weeks and have decided to catch up on my posting… hence the title. A wee bit of everything today.

On Piper:

So our Millerizing/Ferberizing Methods have actually worked. We finally decided that we needed to help Piper learn to go to sleep without the use of Mommy or Daddy’s arms. In her bed, alone. We were so not looking forward to doing this and had been putting it off. Piper has had many nights where she has a big cry before she finally falls asleep in our arms and then we put her to bed. This was getting exhausting. One night Craig decided he would put her in her crib before she was asleep. It was not painful at all!!! It took her about 10 minutes to settle in and fall alseep without much crying and no hugging or holding. Craig just sat in the rocking chair beside her crib. That was it. Ever since then for all her naps and bedtimes we just put her down and off to sleep she goes. How effing lucky are we?

On the rare occasion, she is fussy and we have shush her or pat her back but that is it. Piper, once again, has been Millerized.

On Craig:

My husband is an extremely great person with many references to back up his credentials. Craig will be working before we know it and the Miller’s will be moving once again. Only this time it will be hard on us…. Our third move in our five year marriage and just when our roots were starting to settle.

I did not get much sleep the week that I was at my parents without Craig. My nights were restless and lonely without him. The thing about me is that I like to talk things to death… without Craig around at night I had to keep my thoughts to myself. Craig is here now so I have been sleeping like a viking.

On Life in general:

Life throws us curve balls and the key is to wait for your pitch and keep your eye on the ball. I know this change is going to be a good change for us. We always land on our feet and this time will be no different. We don’t need to hit a home run, we can score with a base hit.

On an Anniversary Note:

Last year on Today’s date we got our positive pregnancy test…. just remembering how very sweet that was.

Good on you both (re: Millerizing/Ferberizing)…I didn’t “ize” either of my kids and commend people that do. I just don’t have the patience, I guess. Although, I was always nervous that because we rocked Lauren for so long that she would NEVER be able to sleep on her own, she can…I thought I would be rocking her at the age of 10, but luckily, it won’t come to that…;)

I just live by two smart words:

WHATEVER WORKS.

Have you ever seen Super Nanny? She tells parents to do the same thing. Sit in a chair by their crib and slowly work your way out of the door. I’m glad it worked for you!!
