Dear Davilyn ~
Your new favourite place is the library. You signed up for the summer reading program and read 4 – 6 books a week. Your nose is always in a book this summer. Our house is rarely quiet enough or still enough for you to sit in silence and read. You sneak off to a chair in the corner, or your room, or mine. You sit on the deck alone… anywhere that you can steal some quiet to get lost in your book.
I love that you love to read.
Next week we are going to Thunder Bay so that you and Piper can attend Katie Weatherston’s hockey camp. I am really quite excited to watch you play. Katie will have her Olympic medals with her and I really just want you to see them. To see where life can take you. There are so many options available to you and I want you to know that you are capable of great things if you work hard and put your mind to it.
I’m not sure how much longer I will watch you lace up a pair of hockey skates and take to the ice, but each day you do I know how blessed I am to get to watch you play. To have that in common with you. To cheer and scream for you and jump for joy when you bury the puck in the back of the net.
